How to Develop your Baby’s Math Skills:
Parents can develop the Math skills in their babies from a very early age, as early as 4 weeks old. When they start to see red color right after their black and white period will come to a happy end. How we could teach babies with the help of red color to build stronger Math skills? We can build some white background card boards with red dots painted on them, starting from one red dot ( to show and tell # 1). Then in the next card boards we increase the numbers as we go on, one by one up to whatever number we want e.g. 1-10. We keep repeating several times, as often as we can practice with the baby in order to remain consistent.
Why we are using red painted dots instead of numerals? We do so because it will be developing the neural pathways in the brain which handles the number and quantity as well as language, as we keep practicing through those cards. This information along how to play this game is all described in a book called how to teach your baby Math? which is written by Glenn Doman and Gannet Doman.

Babies should be thought Math through the development of their skills and abilities in thinking and reasoning. How easy it is to teach babies the reality of quantity and the simple truth behind symbols which we use in Mathematics.
Even in home neither mothers nor fathers have that particular fondness or skills in Mathematics that babies can learn and enjoy Math if it is presented in a happy and joyous way. Babies later on when they turn two years old can then easily and naturally tell the quantity of objects in numbers without even counting. It will all be build when you know how to build that natural and amazing ability in your babies thinking and what it means for your child’s Math lessons and to know how to build or implement Mathematical thinking for your child in early ages. When your child will grow older they will never face problem in Math as many people did have before.
Remember any parent can teach their baby Math as early as seven months if the parent approaches the concepts with joy fun and eagerness.
There might have been parents who hear their children coming from school and saying they hate Math. This seems heart breaking because the beauty and power of Mathematical thinking could change their life if the subject was thought from an early ages. Mathematical miseducation is so common that we can hardly see it. We practically expect Math classes to be repetition and memorization of disjointed technical facts. We are not surprized when we see children are not motivated and disliking Math, they are even committed to avoid if for the rest of their lives. Without Mathematical literacy their career opportunities shrink. They could easily have difficulties in their life in those tasks which are related to Math. What is actually Math? It is a thinking thing. It is a thing that doubts, understands, conceives, that affirms and denies, wills and refuses, it imagines also and perceives. This is the kind of thinking we need in every Math class and within each parents everyday. I would like to mention the five principles of Math teaching methods.
1. Start with a question. The ordinary Math classes begins with answers and never arrives at real questions. We are simply given the answers for example: here are the steps to multiply! You repeat. Here are the steps to divide! You repeat. We have covered the material so lets carry on! What matters is this model is memorising the steps. There is no room to doubt to imagine or to refuse. So there is no real thinking here. What would it look like when we have started with a question? If we start with a question, it actually let’s the children to think not because we are mean to them but because we want them to have that quality time to think, resonate and understand so that this way we are not stealing their opportunities of learning from them.
2.Thinking happens only when we have time to struggle. It is not uncommon for students to graduate high school believing that every Math problems can be solved in thirty seconds or less and if they don’t know the answers then they are not just a Math person. This is a failure of education. We need to teach kids to be tenacious and courageous to persevere in the face of difficulty. The only way to teach perseverance is to let them the time to think and grapple with real problems. The longer they have time, they will have more questions through observations and the class will come alive with discussions. Struggling with genuine questions, children deepen their curiosity and their powers of observations. They also develop the ability to think and risk.
3. You are not the answer key. If your child comes to you and asks a question that you don’t know the answer, this can feel like a threat but you are not the answer key. If you don’t know the answer just answer by saying ” I don’t know. Let’s find out”. Like this Math becomes an adventure. You could ask your child to explain it to you and try to figure that out together. Our children should be thought that not knowing is not a failure. It is the fist step to understanding.
4. Saying yes to your child’s ideas. When you say yes to their ideas, they are encouraged to participate in the act of thinking Mathematically. Even if their ideas are wrong, at least we say yes to their rights in participation into the debate. To have heard your child’s idea and to have accepted, studied and disproven is a mark of respect. It is fore more convincing to be told them they are wrong by their peers, than told they are wrong by parents but we should always say yes to their right in participation and build their courage. It takes courage to ask a question. It takes courage to resonate and ask why this thing was like that and what if it would have been like that? This courage and the ability to ask questions and curiosity led to some breakthroughs in the history. All it takes is the willingness to play.
5. Mathematics is not about following rules. It is about playing, fighting, exploring and looking for clues and sometimes breaking things. Einstein called play the highest form of research. A Math teacher who lets their students play with Math, gives their students a gift of ownership. Playing with Math is like running into the woods when you are a child and even if you are walking on a path, you feel like it all belong to you and you own this. Parents! If you want to know how to nurture the Mathematical instincts of your child, play is the answer. What books are to reading, play is to Mathematics. A home full of blocks, puzzles and games to play is a home where Mathematical thinking can flourish. (Dan Finkel)

Woah! This is actually mind-blowing. Just the fact that you can start teaching your child something that they will use for the rest of their lives from as little as 4 weeks; that’s impressive. Also, the method of the red portrayals is truly fantastic; never heard of that method before but it sounds so highly effective. My grandma was a teacher and I remember when my little cousin was born she taught her to count to 10 when she was barely a year old and by her second year she was already counting up to 20!

Yes you are absolutely positive about the book of Glenne Doman and Gannette Doman and the method of red portrayals. I myself have used black and white books for my baby boy at the times when he was very young and about the red portrayals, I found out during my researches.
This has been a very interesting and helpful post on teaching your baby maths from a very young age. I was not aware of the red dot system and it seems so easy and straight forward to use. Learning mathematics at an early age is a skill that will beneficial for anybody for the rest of their life.
